Police Brutality: Hispanics, Asian, and African American

Almost everyone can be involved in police brutality including Hispanics, Asian, and African American. But, black people are most likely to be shot by police than their white peers. However, according to Vox news says, An analysis of the available FBI data by Dara Lind for Vox found that US police kill black people at disproportionate rates: Black people accounted for 31 percent of police killing victims in 2012. In other words, that black people are accusing as a threat to everyone else in America and most of them were killed unarmed.

The practice of police brutality has a strong effect on a main portion of the American population. Those affected are minorities and the elderly causing them to have a strong hatred towards the whites and the law enforcement, where a police officer feels that because he/she has a badge and a gun, therefore, it put them above the law and they can use unnecessary force against another individual. However, racial profiling is also the common forms of the police brutality. This is since there is a growing number of evidence suggesting that police officer is more likely to harass and arrest innocent civilians that are Black or Hispanic rather than white people.

However, there are some terms that you should know about police brutality. The first terms are Excessive Force is defined as a force that is beyond that which would be appropriate for the situation. And Racial Profiling is defined as the use of someone’s race as a justification for suspecting them of committing a crime. Therefore, there were four levels of Force used by police that you know: Verbal restraint- instructing an individual on where to stand or sit or telling him that he is under arrest. Physical restraint- using hands to physically control an individual, whether causing him to lean against a patrol car. Less-lethal force- the use of a weapon that is unlikely to cause death, such as pepper spray, and tasers. Lethal force- the use of physical force that is likely to cause the death of the individual, such as shooting the individual.
