Differences between French, Russian and American Revolutions

A revolution is a successful attempt made by a large group of people to change / challenge the political system of their country. People who are willing to engage and take action in a revolution are trying to fix the struggles in justice, reminding people not to forget the future against the past. People who want to change the political system are looking out for the future of their country. Revolution was the only way average people or citizens felt they can challenge and fight the ultimate power.

The difference between the American, Russian, and French revolution is the context in which they were caused by because each of them fought for their own struggles and had a different opinion on how their country was overseen and ruled.

Both the French and American revolutions began due to the peoples need to obtain independence and liberty from an overly brutal government. Both also had economic instability from war debt. The French owed old debt and the excesses of the royal court caused distaste with the monarchy, which eventually became one of the reasons The French revolution of 1789 began. The American revolution also had social inequality and started because of enlightenment ideas. The Enlightenment ideas were the main influences for American Colonies to become their own individual nation. Some of the leaders of the American Revolution were influenced by enlightenment ideas which are, freedom of speech, equality, freedom of press, and religious tolerance.

In the years leading up to the Revolution, colonists in America enjoyed relative prosperity under the protection of the British Crown. As the British Empire thrived, taxes and imperial interference in local politics were minimal. However, this changed in 1763 when the French and Indian War left the British deeply in debt. Results after the revolution were some changes that would be felt immediately. Slavery would not be abolished for another hundred years, but the Revolution saw the beginning of an organized abolitionist movement. English traditions such as land inheritance laws were taken away almost immediately. Life before the French revolution was under the rule of Louis XVI . He was the absolute monarch of France in the years leading up to the French Revolution. At the beginning of Louis XVI’s ruling, France was under the Ancient Regime. The ancient regime is a system based on absolute monarchy. After the French Revolution, everything changed as the bourgeois took the power. They beheaded the King, and suppressed privileges. Although all this is true the outcomes were different because the American Revolution was mainly focused on gaining independence while the French revolutions The common people of France wanted to get rid of the French monarchy, the lower classes wanted to enforce equality rather than having the nobles and the king overpower them.
