Black Lives Matter against Violence
How it works
Nonviolence is a powerful and just weapon, which cuts without wounding and ennobles the man who wields it. It is a sword that heals said Dr Martin Luther King. Dr King was fascinated by Mahatma Gandhi’s campaigns of nonviolent resistance , in 1954 He even spoke about non violence in the protest of The Negro people of Montgomery. Therefore, I agree that Nonviolent protests are indeed effective to enact social change in a fact that protests always comes with a prize and the prize for nonviolence bring peace.
For one, I believe in the saying that goes A closed mouth does not get fed. Meaning the results you desire to see on your local community, state or country come from speaking your truth but not from doing violence. For example: in your community If someone wants to see kids stay off the street after school; they may have a tug on their heart to start up an after school recreational program. However; the idea needs to be execute, so Non violent protest is the perfect option to express your feelings without any consequences behind.
Secondly, Martin Luther king Jr. used the power of words and acts of nonviolent resistance. As he said The strong man is the man who will not hit back, but the one who can stand up for his rights and yet not hit back, He was talking to the black people of Montgomery in the Baptist church. In my opinion i believe that non violence protest could turn into a violence protest but you are responsible to know that violence is not the solution of the problem (s). But that doesn’t mean you have to accept injustice, we have to fight for our rights and to oppose injustice and violence.
Furthermore, The concept of nonviolence is all about rejection of, aggression and violence. For example: In Montgomery, Alabama, there was a woman named Rosa Park Who refused to give her seat up to a white man. At that time white people had stronger rights than black people, so she was later arrested. This brought attention to the black people and caused them to boycott and they refused to ride the bus. The buses then went bankrupt which gave them no choice but to allow the Black people sit wherever in order to keep their business, No one got hurt, the law changed just by their nonviolence resistance. Some people might say nonviolence is not practical and effective because it takes a long time and too much patience, but they do not think about the consequences of violence protest.
In conclusion, Nonviolence can be hard to follow because it takes a lot of time to get the result that you want but that’s the reason why it’s important to be patient for what you really want. As Arnold H. Glasow once said, The key to everything is patience. You get the chicken by hatching the egg but not by smashing it. People should communicate more and speak up more so that we can all come to an understanding and stop violence. Although, this may takes some time and may be difficult to get people to be willing to participate, but I believe that soon it’ll be easier to speak up and get what we really want without any violence.
