By now I think it’s far from a secret that I adored This is War, This is Love, and This is Reckless. As such i was highly anticipating this sequel because I couldn’t get enough of Drew and Courtney in the first installment. One think Kennedy Fox books do really well is make you care about the characters as if they were your own, real-life friends. 

This is Reckless was left on a pretty big cliffhanger and I don’t think I’ve closed my mouth since finishing it in February. This is Effortless wastes no time in getting you back into that conflict and sucking you in before you even have a chance to resist. (But let’s be honest…nobody actually wants to resist.) I definitely felt like this book was the most intense of all four and left my heart racing for reasons other than swoony Drew. Although it was a pretty different feeling while reading I also looooooved it. Having read the first duet and then This is Reckless in close succession (i.e. I binged the first two books while my Kennedy Fox Box for Drewtney pt. 1 was in the mail and immediately binged that when it got here) it helped keep things fresh. I really wish I could be more specific/descriptive with this but NO SPOILERS. This is Effortless was different than the other 3 but in a great way. 

What wasn’t different was the case of character. All our favs were around; Viola, Travis, Kayla, Logan and Courtney’s family all make cameos. There was also a certain ahem witch we love to hate. I still hate her. But what’s a Drewtney story without Mia fucking Montgomery. One of my favourite things about romance is how we so often get later books featuring beloved characters from previous books. It feels like you actually know them because you become immersed in the (love) lives of all the families and social circles!

Long story short (because I could gush about Kennedy Fox books all day…and if we’ve ever hung out I *probably* have), I highly recommend not only This is Effortless but all of the Kennedy Fox books. They’re very quick but engrossing reads. If you can manage to put them down you have better willpower and adulting skills than I do because I ended up forsaking pretty much all responsibility for this book. I know, I’m weak.
