Summary: Introducing book 1 in the Bishop Brothers series! A steamy new southern romance series by USA Today Bestselling author duo, Kennedy Fox!
Each book is a complete interconnected STANDALONE! HEA guaranteed!
Alex Bishop is your typical cowboy.
Charming, sexy, and wears a panty-melting smirk.
Working on the ranch helped build his solid eight-pack and smoking body. He’s every girl’s wet fantasy and he knows it too.
Alex doesn’t follow the rules of your typical playboy bachelor. After wining and dining his dates and giving them the best night of their lives, he always sends flowers and calls the next day—even if it’s to say, let’s just be friends. His mama taught him manners after all and his southern blood knows how to be a gentleman. Still, that isn’t enough to tame the wildest of the Bishop brothers.
River Lancaster has finally met the man of her dreams. Too bad after six months of romantic bliss, she finds out he’s married. With a broken heart and blind rage, she books herself a ticket to Key West, Florida. Tired of cheaters and liars, she’s set on escaping to forget he ever existed. Who needs a man when there’s an all-you-can-drink margarita bar, anyway? That’s what she tells herself until she bumps into the right guy who can make all those bad memories disappear.
Even if it’s only temporarily.
Two weeks on the beach is what they both need. No strings attached, no expectations, no broken hearts. Too bad the universe has other plans—one that’ll change the entire course of their lives in just nine short months.
**A contemporary romance with a little southern drama**
Not suitable for readers under 18 due to adult language and sexual content. (Goodreads)
Review:
*I received an advance copy of this book from Kennedy Fox in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion.*
I’ll be real with you (y’all?) right from the start…cowboys aren’t usually my cup of tea. Not that I’m opposed to them but cowboy romances just don’t do it for me the way say a sports romance would. That being said, I knew if anyone could sell me on a good old-fashioned cowboy story I knew it would be Kennedy Fox…yeah, they nailed it. I’m in love with Alex Bishop. Taming Him is a full dose of swooning, frivolous fun, southern gentlemen, and a swift bite from the travel bug (raise your hand if you need a vacation).
I loved seeing the ranch life the Bishops enjoy. As someone who’s lived in large cities pretty much her whole life, it was a totally new outlook and to be totally honest I envy their way of life just a tad (even though I love everything there is to do in major cities too). The ranch felt so homey and welcoming and by the end started to feel like a real place I could hop on a plane and visit when I needed a break (see above comment about travel bugs and needing a vacation).
Alex is a great swoon-worthy cowboy to kick off this set of books with. He’s a gentleman but still fun and just a tad reckless. Also I imagined every last thing he said in a sexy southern accent…I’m a sucker for accents omg. I also love how his actions show his strong morals and the amazing values his parents have instilled in him his whole life. He’s the perfectly imperfect man and I’m still swooning over him weeks later even though he’s not usually my “type”. I also loved River as the lead female in the story. She’s fierce, successful, and still comfortable doing things alone. That independence and ability to enjoy her own company as well as that of a sexy man is an amazing quality and I love having women portrayed like that! The secondary characters were also amazing. Dylan is a hilarious BFF for Alex albeit a slight hazard when out and about as well and Natalie is a fierce partner in crime for River. As much as I love the love in a romance novels I’m also SO here for awesome friendships in them as well!
I can’t make a Kennedy Fox post at this point without mentioning food. True to form, Taming Him often made me really fuckin’ hungry…and now I’ve tried the blueberry muffin recipe Courtney is so famous for OMG I WILL SALIVATE EVERY TIME THEY ARE MENTIONED IN SUBSEQUENT BOOKS THEY ARE THE BEST MUFFINS EVER. Don’t read Kennedy Fox books on an empty stomach.
Overall I really liked this book and, having now read a full-length story of the Bishop brothers and not just cameos in the Checkmate Duet books, I cannot wait for the best because I can safely say that I’m sold on Kennedy Fox’s brand of cowboy.
