[Timeless Tour] Kick Off Post

Hey everyone! It’s day 1 of Simon&Schuster Canada’s Timeless Tour, which runs from April 16 to May 4. My fellow bloggers and I will be featuring reviews, Q&A’s, and various feature posts from the authors of all four books over the course of the tour. See below for a list of my fellow participants!

For today’s kick off post I’m answering some questions about myself as a historical fiction reader.

1. What do you love about historical fiction?

I love how historical fiction allows you to ‘travel’ back to and experience a time that you yourself never had the chance to live in (and might ideally not actually want to) but are fascinated with. It’s like time travel without all the necessary science and the messy “if you change one thing you can destroy the course of history” bit.

2. If you could go back to any fictional (Outlander / Come from Away / Bellewether etc.) historical time, when would it be and why?

I definitely think I’d want to go back to the glamorous 50s/60s Hollywood era in The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. As much as a lot of what went down that time is, let’s say, a tad questionable, I’d be curious to experience how the elite of Hollywood were living, their parties, and what the overall atmosphere of an era like that would be!

3. If you could have dinner, brunch, or coffee with three historical fiction characters, who would they be?

After reading Songs of Love and War for this tour I’d definitely have to say Kitty, Celia, and Birdie. I can’t remember ever being so charmed by a young group of friends as I was with these three. I’d defintiely love to have them be a part of my unofficial girl gang and we can brunch our days away!

Thank you to Simon&Schuster Canada for having me on this tour and keep an eye out for more posts in the coming weeks!

  1. Ooh, the 1950s/1960s Hollywood era would definitely be interesting to see…plus you’d still get to enjoy indoor plumbing and electricity for the most part. 😛

And I think even just Kitty by herself for brunch would be an absolute blast! haha

    Great answers, Amanda. 🙂
